Essex Solutions Japan Achieves ISO 14001 Certification
Essex Solutions
We are proud to share that the Essex Solutions plant in Kameyama-shi Mie, Japan has recently completed and achieved ISO 14001 certification, marking a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
Following the transition to operate independently after the buyout of our global joint venture, the team in Japan acted with urgency and focus to establish a robust Environmental Management System (EMS). Foundational elements were put in place quickly, including the development of an environmental policy, environmental manual, and supporting documentation, along with the execution of internal audits and process controls aligned to ISO standards. This work created a strong framework to guide sustainable operations and ensure long-term compliance.
Through a rigorous multi-stage audit process, the team demonstrated both the strength and effectiveness of their management system. Initial audits confirmed readiness to proceed, while the main audit evaluated real-world performance and system execution. Although minor nonconformities and observations were identified, the team responded decisively by implementing corrective actions such as strengthening legal compliance tracking, addressing gaps in inspection scheduling, and expanding EMS ownership across Human Resources, Materials, and Technology functions. These enhancements not only resolved audit findings but also improved cross-functional accountability and system resilience.
“This certification is the result of strong collaboration and a shared commitment to building a sustainable and compliant operation from the ground up. Every team member took ownership in identifying opportunities for improvement and ensuring we met the highest standards. That collective effort is what made this achievement possible,” said Masaaki Arahori, Manufacturing Department lead at the location.
Importantly, the team maintained strong communication and governance throughout the process, regularly reviewing progress and corrective actions to ensure alignment and transparency. Their ability to quickly adapt, collaborate, and execute requirements played a critical role in successfully achieving certification.
Achieving ISO 14001 certification reflects the team’s discipline, agility, and commitment to continuous improvement. It also positions the Kameyama facility to operate with greater environmental awareness, reduced risk, and improved efficiency moving forward.
This accomplishment reinforces Essex Solutions’ global commitment to environmental stewardship and sets a strong foundation for continued progress in Japan and across our broader organization.
